If you look closely, you can see the switchback of the Portal Road in the shadows on the lower left.

If you just click on the picture, a full-screen view displays, and the portal road switchback is easily visible.

In fact, there appears to be a road going across the very bottom of the picture. What road is it?

Oh! ...Duh, silly me. I mistook the Alabama Hills for part of the Inyo range.

I think what I was focusing on is the LA aqueduct.

And, when you do a zoom on such a large area from what must be 20 miles away, the perspective gets distorted.

And, if you look to the lower right, just right of the Alabama Hills, you can see the dirt road (and 15 mile point) where the Wild Wild West Marathon is run. It's the corner of Hogback and Movie Rd.
