Five friends headed to Mt. Whitney, the tallest peak in the continental U.S.. After being delayed by a July snowstorm, on the final possible night of our window, we went ahead with the night photography shoot. Two climbed the 13,800-ft-tall Mt. Irvine and spent the night on the summit. Two set up cameras above the Whitney base camp. The fifth carried seven headlamps to the summit of Whitney and back, throwing a somewhat absurd amount of light into the darkness.
