Feel free to add to the list. Some of this is East Coast. Signs of cabin fever. You may have it if:

Tired of dark and cold and wet

Tired of scalded tongue from sipping cups and cups of hot tea. Oh, for some iced.

Tired of looking through old Backpacker magazines for overlooked articles.

Tired of wearing long johns.

Tired of Christmas 5 lbs that needs to be burned off.

Wanting the sun to climb higher and longer in the sky.

Wanting more money to move south (across the equator?)

Wanting the roads to reopen to favorite trailheads.

Wanting that white stuff to disappear.

Wanting that next summer Sierra trip to be here soon.

And then...the reverse cabin fever, when we're "burned out" with the Summer heat (105F in Bishop), and long for the return of that white stuff. San Diego and it's mild climate starts looking more inviting.

Wanting to never again encounter someone on the road who thinks they can drive in this stuff.

But I haven't reached the point where I'm hating it yet. I still need to get in my mandatory 2-3 overnight winter hikes this winter. One goal this year is to get Bulldog to join me.

And what about you Harvey, no skiing or snowshoeing? There are some great ski spots right across the border in W.Va.

One good thing about winter - it's good book reading weather. Harvey, I'm sure you've read Snow In The Kingdom by Ed Webster. I read it last year and am reading it again now. What a great story. My copy is autographed to boot.

yep, been to Snowshoe, W.VA, but not this year. Between my knee scope surgery a month ago and the flu last week, I was lucky to finish dragging my deconditioned butt around the neighborhood for an hour today.

Yeah, I read Ed. My bibliography does not see him twice, but next on the alphabetical list is this dark one:

**Waterman, Jonathan
In The Shadow of Denali. Life and Death on Alaska's Mt. McKinley.

Waterman's In The Shadow of Denali goes much, much further, even farther than Alaska. He is "The Wasteland"-like.
