AlanK, you win. You can look at the interactive sat. image here. Wiki reference here.

The battle was actually in the town of Battle, so it should really be called the Battle of Battle.

As an IT guy, I find this to be fascinating.

"In the town of Bayeux in northern France you can see the world's oldest information archive based on a long ribbon of material, a very early example of what was to become tape media. "

If one's memory is bad enough, the picture resembles the area around the Kennedy Space Center. The ocean is about 6 miles south at some point, and generally east. And it is green. I was thinking about what might be important about STS-42, etc.

Way off! (An ocean and almost a millenium.) laugh

Thankfully, there aren't many abbeys in FL!

Battle sites often are geographicaly misnamed. ie The battle of Bunker Hill was actually the Battle of Breed Hill.

After reading the fascinating history provided by wiki I am baffled with the French Normans taking over England that the influence on cooking didn't have more of an impact.

Three major things happened here. The guys on the left (Ehrenfest, Lorentz, and Bohr) had nothing to do with any of them.

I was tempted to post a picture of Bethel, NY, but the theme of events named after the wrong places was already exploited.

After giving it the old college try, the French gave up and went back home?

The guy on the right in the picture is Heike Kamerlingh Onnes. He is credited with:

Liquifying He-4 (7/10/1908)
Discovering superfluidity in He-4 (1908)
Discovering superconductivity (1911)

There have been several Nobel prizes for work on superconductivity, but Onnes got his in 1913 for liquid he.

Maybe he retired to Prescott.

Leonardo Da Vinci thought so.

There are people still living who were alive at the time of the event. Not many, though.

You might find a token in your pocket commemorating the event.

Given that American drivers, in general, misunderstand roundabouts, there are probably some driving in an infinite loop as we speak. Now you know it's in the Western Hemisphere.

Now that was a good answer -- no cats or birds involved.
