that truly may be the cutest thing I have ever seen.

I kept on wanting to shush the people...they kept on waking the otters up with their talking.

A blast from the past this week. This pre-YouTube video is of Catherine Destivelle soloing in Mali. Filmed in 1987, High Magazine commented,

"the film Seo of her soloing on a sandstone cliff in the Mali desert is one that has been seen worldwide and the one clear image that has stuck in the minds of the general public in Britain".

This was undoubtedly true at the time, and most climbers of a certain generation will have seen this film before, however now that video is ubiquitous across the internet, it is easy to forget such classics as this.

The film examines the local people, the Dogons of Sanga, for whom climbing is part of their everyday life. Catherine is fascinated by these people, and they admire her daring solo climbs.

Mount Rainier, WA 2011.06.25. ~1602
Smaller and larger rockfalls happened during the day about hourly. Around 4pm a huge part of Nisqually Cleaver fell down, creating a fast river of rock and snow. It was the biggest that day.

to follow up on the Whitney time lapse, one from the master of the art - taken in Spain last April. If you ever wanted to see the Milky Way through a Sahara sandstorm in time lapse, this is the video for you grin

Very nice!

Some of the starry night views show airplane streaks heading across the horizon. But at 00:45, are those streaks satellites or meteorites?

I'm pretty sure those are airplanes - he's pretty close to a city which you can see in various views of the video. With a 10-20 sec exposure for the stars, a plane with landing lights will leave a nice streak.

check out his Aurora video - there are various light streaks in the capture as well

and then there's his latest from the land of the midnight sun, a place where "sunset light" can last for many hours

Walk Across America... 2.9 million views
Behind the scenes... 425 k views.

Pretty cool video. It was fun recognizing some of the places I've been.

It took 6 people fourteen days driving across America in a motorhome.
