I expect that most guide services figure that multiple day trips are necessary to get a reasonable chance of success when picking an arbitrary date ahead of time at this time of year. That's no guarantee of success, but it allows time to deal with issues of weather, snow condition, acclimation and training.

I'm not sure I would want to tackle the last 400' up to the summit alone. I've watched a bunch of videos and it seems like most people go roped up when there is snow. The mountain will always be there, right. We'll see as we get closer to my trip. Maybe I'll hike to the notch and turn around. If I didn't get to the summit I wouldn't be that upset. Any day in the mountains is better than most days.

Also be forwarned: I don't think that guiding the main trail is allowed, only the mountaineers route.

This suggests to me that you should go with a qualified guide

Or go out this coming winter and gain experience.
