We already have Oct. 3 overnight permits but thought we'd try to go up a day early to spend a little more time on the mountain. Looking for 2 overnight permits.

Thanks

Heya, not sure if you are still checking this rboone, but yes the station appeared to have alot of open spots when I called earlier today.

I think I snagged one of your cancellation reservations for OCT 3rd overnight so perhaps we will meet on the trail laugh.

Are you planning on getting to Trail camp your first/sunday night? I am hoping to arrive at the portal campground on that sunday as well just not sure if i'd have enough time to trek on the trail much on that day, but would be ecstatic to meet some other hikers heading up on the monday.

Hey Anthony. I'm glad someone got to use our extra Oct. 3 o/n permit. The nice folks at the reservation line are very appreciative of those who call and release permits if they aren't going to use them. Because I released one Oct. 3 permit the nice lady who helped me didn't charge me for the earlier entry date. Thank you to those who released their Oct. 2 permits that I was able to snag.

We will arrive fairly early Sunday morning (9-10am) and will likely head up to Outpost camp or perhaps Trail Camp if time permits. Since we have two days on the mountain there really isn't much hurry though Monday looks to be a better day for the summit with weather coming in later Tuesday.

Will you be wearing anything that will make you easy to identify? I'll keep a look out for you.

Yes the lady I talked to was very nice on the reservation line, even to the point of holding the reserv. for me for an after hours pickup.

I agree with you, the weather isn't shaping up to good for a tuesday ascent. Might try and leave tommorrow evening and sleep at carpark and see if I could do something similar to your group and just take extra time on the trail.

I will be more than likely dressed in dark colors with a dark pack, that has a stuffed crocodile on it (pillow).

Anthony

I'll look out for the Croc and say hello if I see you. I'll be wearing nondescript colors (black hiking pants, darker jacket) so I'll be tough to spot from the 159 other people with permits. Don't even know my pack color since I rented a larger pack from REI so I could fit foul weather gear in it. Have fun, be safe.

ok will try to find you as well. As for the permits on Sunday, it appears they are fully booked, so will probably be in line at 8am to see if anything becomes available for sunday.

Anthony, not sure about your situation, but the no-shows become available at 11 AM, not 8 AM. And there should be enough no-shows so you get what you need.

However, if you already have permit reservations, you can pick them up at 8 am ...or even the day before.

(And if you need to add one or two people and ask nicely, they might be nice and issue them. Not sure about this, though.)
