Here is the link to the Climbingweather.com website, showing a Mt. Whitney forecast (plus tons of other areas). I don't know the location of the weather sensor being used, but it looks pretty accurate. Perhaps this will be helpful in making the decision whether to go or not go.

Has anyone else used this data? Was it helpful?

Looks to me like they are just repackaging the National Weather Service data. But on the National Weather Service site, you get more information (e.g., elevation). I do use the National Weather Service site, now, for all my backpacking trips, and have found it helpful in terms of deciding how warm a sleeping bag I should bring and how robust my rain gear should be.

Here is what I use for Whitney (elevation I choose is close to Trail Camp, but a little higher, so predictions are a little colder). If you click to go close in, you can actually pick out Consultation Lake, Trail Camp, etc.

Thanks for the updates!
Looks manageable if those crazy Sierra winds don't come ripping through. It seems as though a small bit of the snow may have melted already from the looks of the camera.

Hopefully the trail is easily discernible.
I have compass and maps in case.

Yep, pretty much every weather site gets its info from the National Weather Service, it just requires a little more work to find what a person wants from the the NWS.

I keep forgetting that most folks in this forum seem to be interested in Mt. Whitney information exclusively, to the exclusion of the wider world of mountaineering. Okay, okay, no need to remind me that this is meant to be a Whitney forum...

Actually, I think that it is quite evident that almost all of us do a great deal of our adventures in Yosemite, too (many of the posters are West-Siders). In my case, even more of my time is spent north of Yosemite.

Any and all information is appreciated.

The body betrays and the weather conspires, hopefully, not on the same day.

Am I crazy, or was this forum created partially because somebody got post-delete-happy on the other one? What gives?

Can't say as that I'm too crazy about having my posts deleted either.

Did posts get deleted on this board? This thread? There are plenty of forums available here to talk about all things climbing, hiking, mountaineering. Whitney is the focus of this forum(hence the nameWhitneyZone Message board> Mt. Whitney Hiking Association)but all things Sierra east and west have been discussed freely without deletion. Some threads should probably end up in chat but I think this board is pretty tollerant of most subjects.

Those whose one-liner comments were removed have been included in a PM discussion.

It's difficult to decide when to pull a discussion gone to seed, and the decision was discussed among the mods before anything was done.

We have a chat room forum for the off-topic stuff.
