This sequence just posted on YouTube, of a climb on Oct. 16:

A pair of climbers, Ryan and Adriana, hiked to the base of Mt Whitney, nearing the base of the East Buttress at dawn. They proceeded to climb all day, finally reaching the summit in the dark. In good spirits, they then prepared to hike down the Main Trail in the dark! A 26-hour epic.

"5 of 6": at the Pee Wee

Caption: Adri led this 5.9 pitch up to "The Peewee" a giant overhanging chunk of granite on the buttress. I collapsed on the nearest ledge exhausted after an extremely difficult hand over hand crack climb up to this point with a heavy pack in the thin air. Sweet lead Adri!

17 hours of climbing later, at the summit, in the dark. Hypoxic guessing of the altitude   wink   Amazing spirits for the conditions... Way to go!

Caption: Adri and I finally summit Mt. Whitney via the East Buttress in the freezing dark. We made it back down the mountain after another 12 miles completely exhausted almost 26 hours later.
