I thought some of you might enjoy some images of what the current conditions are like.

3 of us set out for Little Lakes Valley with the plan to backpack to Chickenfoot Lake and spend the night but after sleeping at the trail head of Little Lakes Valley which you can still drive to Chris had altitude sickness and decided he was going to spend the day at lower altitude. David had not even got out of his tent when I was all ready to go so I hiked in solo. I followed Rock Creek so I could pass by and over Mack, Marsh, Heart, Box then to Long and Chickenfoot Lakes. I then went back across Long Lake on it's Western shore and back out. David in the end had only hiked in about 1/4 of a mile so I was the only one that got to enjoy an amazing day hike! I recommend anyone that can get out in the backcountry while you still can!

We then tried to go to Lake Sabrina but the road was gated. Instead we drove around the road closed sign to South Lake and spent some time playing on the ice.

When you did not have solid ice or hard snow you would sink into a very fine powder snow mostly ankle deep.

Nice pictures, RP.

Here's your Chickenfoot Lake inlet:

I visited Lake Tenaya, and it was also frozen and sounding off. I've never heard lake ice bongo drums like that before.

...Turn volume way up to listen to the sound on RP's video:
