Here is an article and great photographs by Howard Weamer. From the Mercury News.

Good story and even better photographs. Howard took all of them and sells them at art fairs. He is one of the best landscape photographers I've ever seen.

I was Howard's comic relief at Ostrander for 20 years. Finally stopped about 5 years ago, but HW keeps on going. A truly solid and inspiring mountaineer. (Though I gotta say, in 40 years of knowing him, I've never seen him play the harmonica. Who knew?).

Thanks for the link, I would have missed it otherwise.

Oh: Here's a link to his book about Ostrander. Not sure how it works via Amazon, but I know HW has a couple of cases left (and far, far cheaper than the used copies shown on Amazon).

None of the views expressed here in any way represent those of the unidentified agency that I work for or, often, reality. It's just me, fired up by coffee and powerful prose.

Thanks for posting this up. I had the pleasure of cruising out to Glacier Point last winter, one of my first ski overnights. Here's hoping next winter will bring conditions conducive to a trip out to meet Howard!

That pic of the ice on the broken window took my breath away. Good stuff! grin

Well, thank you George & Moose. It is indeed a special place.

And, George, your WITWHH III really helped set the tone. More please. I bet Moose could come up with a challenge, too.
