Great pics and story! I think we passed you on your way down the North Fork as we were heading up, stopped to yap a little while (narrow trail just below LBSL) didn't realize it was the calicokat.

Burchey, I think he descended the main trail.

Calicokat, that's a crazy story about the grouse. Too bad you didn't get some pictures.

I am sure more people will encounter them this spring.

I didn't get any photos of the grouse due to fear :o But really, I was being lazy, I filled up my memory card and was tunnel visioned to getting back down smile

And yes Burchey, I did a dayhike to LBSL on Friday and ran into you guys going up. I was the guy with the chest harnessed camera bag. Can't miss me with that thing smile

thanks for sharing the pics + story! heading up there on sunday may 6th. i'll tell the grouse you say "hello". wink

p.s. i've ran into them a few times but they always seem to be on their way somewhere and didn't pay me much attention. lucky i guess. never realized they're so vicious. thanks for the heads up.

Interesting story indeed. I never realized they were so fierce. A few weren't more than 10 feet away from me last year, and one was friendly enough to stop by for a picture:

Can I ask what kind of chest harnessed camera bag?? I have been looking into getting one of these but haven't found one I really like (it doesn't help that I am mainly looking at them only online). Any info you have is appreciated =)

LOL, that was hilarious. laugh My coworkers think I'm crazy right now sitting in my cube and laughing out loud. Big moose got chased by a little bird. Reminds me of Foghorn Leghorn and Henery.

I use a Lowepro 65AW with a Lowepro Chest Harness. I bought all that from B&H Photo in New York. Hold a 7D and 15-85 really well. And the bag is actually water proof, mine has been through some adverse conditions and lived to tell the story smile
