Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Extra overnight permit 7/16?

I'm sure posts like these get annoying after a while, but I'm wondering if anyone might have an extra spot in their group for an overnight permit starting Monday 7/16? Looking at the unused permits, it seems like there'd be a really good chance of getting one on the day of, but my friend is flying in from Kentucky and would prefer that it be set in stone, understandably...

You can watch for ones turned in (here's the link), especially in the week before your hike, but it appears the Day Hike crowd is better at doing that.

If you don't snag one online, go in to pick up the permits, and ask to add. At 8 AM, all permits may still be reserved, but as groups come in and shed a slot or two, those will become available. So start asking about 8:30 when you pick up your reserved set of permits. If none are available, they declare the no-shows at 11 AM, so a bunch will come available then.

Thanks for the advice, Steve! I keep telling my friend that he'll get a permit one way or another. It seems very unlikely that there will be no extra spots or no-shows.
