Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion What happened to the log book on the summit?

I made it to the top on 6/26 and was surprised to find no formal or "formal-ish" log book. There were a couple small spiral pads that were filled up and a large piece of paper folded up that people were signing on.

Has the tradition ended or?

Don't know for sure, but the ranger only got to Crabtree a couple of days ago. So new ones should be on the way in a week. Total guess, but anything left from last year may well have blown out in those high winds this year.

Thanks. One of the hut doors was blown in and the hut was full of snow too, so it must have been some crazy weather.

what does it matter, would you climb the tallest mountains if no one knew?
