Did a three night backpack trip into the Mitre Basin to bag a few peaks. Mt. Pickering, Joe Devel Peak, Mt. Guyot and Mt. Langley. A full trip report is located here: http://calicokat-hiking.blogspot.com/2012/06/joe-devel-peak-mt-pickering-mt-langley.html

Here are some photos

Nice report, calicokat. I hope others enjoy all the pictures and your text: Joe Devel Peak. Mt. Pickering, Mt. Langley & Mt. Guyot: June 2012.
I need to hike and camp in that area.

The way the dead trees are preserved in that high-altitude environment sure makes them pretty:

Very nice pics. They make me look forward to my JMT hike this summer.

I find it amazing that you can hike and camp alone. I have noticed a few other WZers hike and camp alone. Your photos and trip report are very nice...I enjoyed them both.

It seems like many WZers are constantly on the trail....am I the only one who works??? Sob....just feeling sorry for myself....or jealous...ha...ha

Hiking alone isn't bad at all, but camping alone gets lonely from time to time. I bring a nook and do alot of reading in the tent. I start my High Sierra Trail/John Muir Trail in about a month and like always it will be solo, 19 days worth.

Awesome trip report and pics. Will be hiking in the Mitre Basin in mid August. Summiting Mt Langley, Mt Whitney and visiting Sky Blue Lake. The views from Langley and Guyout are magnificent.
