First off, thanks to all of the awesome people here for all of the great information and support when I was preparing for this trip. We had a successful summit on Monday morning 6-25-2012. We did it in two days and it was an amazing experience. It was insanely windy at both Trail Camp and from Trail Crest to the summit but other then that there wasn't a cloud in the sky. None of my group of three had any problems with altitude or anything either as we stayed at horseshoe meadows, then the portal before starting. Here are my blogs I wrote on the trip(ya I am a little crazy at writing and photographing a lot) This one is a hiking report with all of the times and information on our trip, it has a lot of photos and a 7 minute video as well http://opadventureteam.com/2012/06/28/hiking-mt-whitney-tallest-mountain-lower-48-states/ This one is a straight photographic guide of all of the main parts of the trail, over 70 photos http://californiathroughmylens.com/mt-whitney-trail-hike-photos And this is my review of the Portal Store with their awesome hamburgers and pancakes. http://californiathroughmylens.com/mt-whitney-portal-store Let me know what you guys think and thanks again for all of the support. I linked to this forum from both of my hiking posts as it was an insanely valuable resource for completing this hike.

Lynn, thanks for the kind words on the posts! It really was an amazing day on the summit. If the wind hadn't been kicking so much I could have spent more time up there! We love to hike so we always have lots on the agenda. I am hoping to score some passes for an end of July Half Dome trip. We will see if that works out!

I have only been on Whitney 3 times--all three times, we had poor visibility from wildfire smoke. I have never seen Whitney's blue skies like that. thanks for sharing. Brent N

Josh I sent a link to your thread and photos to my friends yesterday and they all emailed me back saying.....These photos make me want to go back to Mt. Whitney.....Next...within minutes they were all saying we should get a permit next year.....I was just sharing your beautiful photos...I did not say anything about hiking to the summit of Mt. Whitney......see what you started.
