Our party hiked Whitney on 09/24 and we did not see any water on our way up the switchbacks. It was probably around noon. We didn't summit because we were low on water at trail crest. On our way down the summit we spotted some streams, the ice must have been melting by that time. I would not count on getting water at the switchbacks.

Ouch, the last post came one day late for me-or I wish I would have found a way to check this after I left Alaska.

I can confirm- DO NOT count on switchback 23 water. It was frozen on our trip. Much more to our trip report later.

We hiked the Main trail on Friday and did not find any water in the morning. However, by 2:30 p.m., there were several spots where it was running over the trail on the lower 30 switchbacks. Best water we have tasted!

Plan accordingly in the morning, it is very frosty and cold so the water is remaining frozen for a longer time.
