From the Fresno Bee.

"A winter weather advisory will be in effect through 4 p.m. Sunday above 6,000 feet from Yosemite National Park to Kings Canyon National Park.

Ten to 20 inches of snowfall is forecast for the southern Sierra Nevada mountains, but mostly at about 7,000 feet and above...
"

I love it that "up to half an inch" is considered a "heavy rainfall" in a vast reclaimed desert that apparently hasn't discovered the 1/2 inch irrigation tube yet.

Actually, saltydog, there are more and more vineyards around that use the drip irrigation method. Lots of almond orchards use mini-sprinklers and drip too. The conversion is well under way.

Also, I see Richard P is on his way up Whitney for #52 in a year. That makes it once a week for the entire year. It is a pretty stormy day to be up there, though.

Yeah, I know, I am always just astounded at how many center pivots and big rollers you still see spraying away on bright sunny 100 degree days
