Nice report... need to read the rest later. Too bad about the stomach issues.

I sure like those pictures. I highly recommend everyone visit his report. Here's one picture: Fullsize

I don't understand. confused What's to fix? ...unless you don't want people to download your pictures. I like linking to the full size, because it is SUCH a beautiful picture -- you should see it on my 23" monitor. cool

By the way, I like whatever software you are using to serve up the images, especially the feature that allows someone to tailor the width and height. For example, with the above image, I added "?w=800&h=543" to the URL so it would display at that dimension.

I especially like the trail up to Forrester Pass. Is there access to this area for a day hike?

Wonderful report and pictures! I love that area though haven't gotten as remote as you did on this trip. Lots of food for thought.

Nope, no way you can get to the Forrester Pass area for a dayhike unless you are doing a ultra long distance run or hike. Part of the beauty of the backcountry is the fact that you can't dayhike to it though.

I got a chance to read through the whole report and gaze at all the pictures. You and that camera take some really beautiful shots.

Too bad about the tripod. You might try experimenting with tripod heads, and find a way to use your hiking poles as two legs of a tripod -- tied together along with a third stick (maybe a tent stay?), and you wouldn't need to carry a 3 lb tripod.

On the altitude sickness that dogged you for days: Next time you come to the Sierra for more than a day, bring along Diamox. It can help, even in low doses, like half a 125 mg tab twice a day.

I looked up your camera: Wow, now THAT's a camera!   Canon EOS 5D Mark II

Great work!

These are really great photos, you've really captured the Sierras in them. Nice job. Must have been some 8 days.
