Haven't received any notification results from the lottery and wanted to see if anyone knows if it's possible to get from the end of the meysan lake trail across to mt. whitney. Thanks for any advice in advance. Have tried to find info online but was unable to.

That's because there is a monstrous ridge between Meysan Lake and Consultation Lake. The rock on the north
side is so steep you would have trouble finding a route down.

Have you checked your email spam/junk folder for the email? Can you log into recreation.gov and still find your application? Any chance you have several email accounts, and are not checking the right one? You can log in Monday morning and see online, as long as you are logging into the right account rec.gov acct.

Here's the map (link)

Even if doable, would still put you in the zone.

Yes I think I checked everything. They charged the application fee but I can't find it on rec. gov site either. Received unsuccessful notification last year. Will check Monday and see what I find. I stayed at trail camp a couple years ago the day after they had the floods and had to spend half a day waiting to get my permit for a 2 day trip and only went to trail camp. Didn't pay much attention to the area above consultation lake but recall it being pretty steep. Thank you for the information.

That raises an interesting question. A Meysan Lake TH permit is still a wilderness permit. Supposedly good for any XC travel anywhere, once past the TH. Might be sticky for a Trail Crest "exit", but no reason why it shouldn't be good for the Zone.

Wherever you go, there you are.

That increases my notion that you may have two different recreation.gov accounts -- maybe on a different / old / second email address??? Is that possible?

Another person contacted me privately with the same situation, and he last wrote that it was a possibility after I mentioned it. I have not heard back from him.

It's possible. We went to some national parks, yellowstone, etc. and made reservations but if there were changes I can't recall them. I found some of the old reservations still on rec. gov. site. Will check it out Monday and try it again next year if not. Thanks for the help.

Steve C. Your the man! You were right, I started thinking about it and talked to the wife who applied for me. She opened a new account when she applied for the lottery. I did receive my first choice in july so I can finish what I started. Thank you very much.
