Hi Laura,
Very informative, and well written. You "sold me", if I was going to buy a tent:-). I guess a ground cloth is less than 8oz, so still less than your EV2, and perhaps easier to pack. I did have to go back to the start of the review to figure out what the third thing in your last pictures was (bivy). A label on the picture would be a big help.
Thanks for posting.
John

Thanks, John! Yeah, labels do help, and I also got good feedback regarding integrating the photos more into the review. Glad you enjoyed it!

nice review. Being somewhat of a MH tent fan, I noticed the small tent in your trip report last week.

In addition to an MSR Twin Sisters tarp, I use the EV2 and EV3, so I really can't justify another 4-season tent - weight is always an issue, but the bomb proof part is what sold me on the EV series. 50mph gusts don't even rattle the fabric on these tents.

I agree with the doors being a bit small and sometimes difficult to use when you pile gear inside. The dimensions are really tight for the ratings - for me the EV2 is really a large solo tent, while the EV3 is a comfortable a 2-person tent with room for gear. They must test these tents with midgets to get the person ratings, because I see no way to fit 3 adults into the EV3 and not have some sort of ground pad fight going on.

EV3 on Saturday at 11,600 feet on the MR - somewhere well above Frog Pond

Just because it's so pretty, a view of the EV2 on April 17 at Outpost Camp. Pretty much a solo tent unless you have two very skinny occupants. No condensation at all, in spite of no wind and maybe 10F
