It was open to bicyclists last weekend.

Does anyone have any info on the snow cover on the trails I hope to hike in Yosemite at the end of this month: Upper Yosemite Falls, Panorama Trail, 4 mile Trail?

I'll be hiking Yosemite on Sunday, so I'll let you know.

Here's my friends' pic from Facebook of their bicycle ride on the GP road Sunday. Their caption:  "hard to believe this is only April"

Four Mile Trail: Will be closed at about 2.6 mile due to treacherous conditions (icy) since that portion of the trail is still shaded this time of year. There is a gate that will be closed. There will be snowpack on some of the switchbacks before you reach this gate.

Panorama Trail: Your only worries is getting wet!

Upper Yosemite Falls: You shouldn't have any problems since the sun directly hits this trail. I advise an early start to avoid crowds. The falls will be flowing so bring that camera.

Journey well...

That sounds like fun. I'm guessing they were riding on the road? On my previous (only) trip to Yosemite we road our bikes down in the valley on the asphalt bike trails. Can anyone recommend some fun bike rides at Yosemite. My wife is not very confident on a bike so nothing off road or in a lot of traffic.

That's going to be a tough one; during the season, "off road or in a lot of traffic" pretty much captures the essence of Yosemite. The 12 miles of bike path in the Valley is pretty much it. Everything else is by road.

Wherever you go, there you are.

I hope they have changed the web site message. I found the gate locked open today, and the only patch of snow left had melted back so the trail was about 3 feet wide there. When that patch is full, it would be treacherous, where a slip would lead to a quick fall over a 30-foot vertical drop.

Interestingly, one pair of hikers got word yesterday that the trail was still closed, while another group heard it was open. Information takes time to propagate among the information rangers, I suppose.

I'd have some pictures (not from the snow) but I can't find the usb cable to connect the camera to the computer.

There were over a hundred tourists at the Glacier Point. Only about a dozen had hiked up from the Valley.

I did the Panorama Loop yesterday, so yes, it is completely open. With the little snow, I am sure Clouds Rest is accessible from the Valley, and will be from the Tioga road as soon as they open the road.
