Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Fires Prohibited in the SEKI National Parks

I forgot to mention in another thread that all open fires are now prohibited in both Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks due to drought conditions. The parks are at Alert 2 fire danger.

Ditto in Inyo National Forest, but without regular ranger patrols the ban is very difficult to enforce. Last week I saw a recent campfire (complete with new fire ring) near the Bishop Pass Trail, between Long Lake and Spearhead Lake.

Bob, while at a campsite, I too witnessed an open fire.

Come on guys, the fires were started to burn up the WAG bags they did not want to carry...can you blame them.

Just to paint the complete picture, Check this out , essentially the same fire ban is in place, all the way to - but not including - Yosemite, on both sides, SEKI NPs, Inyo And Sierra NFs.
