smile I'm pretty sure Bob means Trail Camp.

Splitting hairs for fun:
Actually there are some camping spots near Trail Crest on the west side -- built by the trail crew who originally built the trail. I saw JMT hikers using them last year. And you left out one more in the list of "other places": the summit. wink (these sites are usually used by longer-distance hikers who come up from the other side, and requires starting up with about 4 liters of water)

I am hoping, myself, to camp either on the summit or the spots on the west side switchbacks before the JMT junction in an upcoming HST trip, after 5 nights at altitude.

As Steve probably guessed, didn't want to confuse things (enough folks already have trouble keeping Trail Crest and the JMT junction 200' feet below it clear) and probably not recommended to sleep so high without a lot of preceding nights at altitude.....

So many split hairs now, time for me to leave this thread to apply some conditioner.

Bob, looking forward to the TR.
