SO, while we are standing around twiddling our trekking poles waiting for the bureaucracy function again, why don't we have some fun with words! In this case "Sierra"! Here's one that Doc Harvey came up with that Steve and I have already enjoyed:

And yes, the final comment by Ansel Adams is analytically incorrect, but its conclusion is sound.

They can call me recalcitrant, but I like to use "Sierras".

Even so, I must say, it just doesn't seem right when I hear someone colloquially refer to mountains of the Sawtooth Range in Idaho as the "Sawtooths". Wouldn't "Sawteeth" sound better?
