Camped at Mahogany Flats Saturday night and hiked to Telescope Summit and back Sunday. Variable snow but pretty decent winter conditions. Boot hiked up the service road from Mahagony to Rogers Peak on snow/ice mix. One could probably use crampons and go straight up the couloir that takes off to the right on the first bend in the service road and go directly to Rogers Peak, but we chose to just take the road up. The ridge from Rogers to the base of Telescope has variable snow and can easily be boot hiked. We needed crampons the last 1000 feet up the corniced ridge to the summit. Pretty nice hard packed snow. Snow coverage became a little more variable on final traverse from the false summit to the true summit but crampons were still needed in a couple of spots. We were the only party on the entire mountain this past weekend. Great time.

Emigrant road all the way to the Kilns can be driven by a regular car. Wildrose canyon road is closed. The Panamint valley road to and from Trona is now open. The washout has been repaired. It is gravel but can be driven in a regular car.
