No sir. I am getting into LA on the 24th and driving up to the whitney portal that afternoon. I'll camp at altitude and then head up the North Fork at Lone Pine Creek to Upper Boy Scout lake. On from there i will do the mountaineer's route to the summit on Day 2.
Now I am sure you will be out on Day 2! The MR is a shorter trip. I took a group up there a few years back and we camped just east of UBSL. We easily summited and then packed out in the same day. You could camp 2 nights at UBSL, then head out in time for breakfast at the Portal Store.
You would have plenty of time to get back to LAX if you leave the Portal about noon.
