Kahtoola Microspikes seem to be the most popular.

REI recently begin stocking a competitor to Kahtoolas that looked very similar and pricing was about the same. A friend purchased them because they didn't have his size Kahtoolas on the shelf and they really did look the same.

On our hike later the spikes seemed to hold the snow and build up and get trapped between the spikes and the boot. I can't explain why this was happening but it convinced me to spend the extra few bucks to replace my Kahtoolas when I need to. My friend is taking the other pair back.

I've worn out two pairs of Kahtoolas - they were the first to introduce microspikes and got the jump. IMO Hillsounds make a slightly better product. I prefer their Trail Crampon Ultra. It's about $10 more than their basic model, but has the flexible points rather than 2 fixed plates which do tend to ball up under certain conditions.

Hillsounds are somewhat better as they have more points, and the points are slightly longer. More points in the heel area are important on downhills.

But, if you have perfectly functional Kahtoolas, I wouldn't rush out and replace them.
