You guys have helped a lot, so one more question before heading out next weekend. Can you safely leave a car in Aberdeen or next to Taboose Creek for a couple of days?

Break-ins at hiker parking lots are rare. Cars are a lot safer there than parked on the street in most any city.

The exception being some of the popular So Cal trailheads. Vivien Creek to San Gregornio & San Bernardino Peak have had a real problem in the past few years. Both are close to villages and a few of the "residents" have been caught breaking into cars.
