This took much longer to put together than anticipated, but you can see the hikes I did leading up to my Whitney hikes in June & September:

Interesting reading, Chevy. I was impressed with the big 8000' day on Skyline without any backbreakers beforehand. I've gotta ask, though - what were you carrying in a 55 lb pack for a 4-hour afternoon family hike?! The family?

Thanks!

I've done Skyline a few times. I knew I was in good enough shape going into it based on what I was doing at the gym. Skyline is one of my favorite hikes. Great workout with no downhill.

LOL, the 55 lbs was a guestimate, but now that I think about it:
My son dressed like Randy from Christmas Story ~ 32 lbs
Kid Carrier - 6 lbs
Diaper Bag Items ~ 3 lbs
Camera Gear - 2 lbs
Water ~ 6 lbs
Misc (clothing I wasn't wearing b/c I was too hot, food, first-aid etc: ??? lbs

So I think 50-55 lbs is probably accurate.
