First time posting on this board I did some searching prior to posting. Didn't find the answer I was in search of.

Best Hiking shoes is very subjective. I'm hoping to get some feedback based on experience. I hoping to hike mt Whitney in July. I hike 6 miles two times a week in trail running shoes. So I'm use to low top and light shoes. I've been looking to purchase hiking shoes such as the north face ultra fastpack or hedgehog in a low or high. I'm leaning more Towards those two based on weight. Has anyone hiked Whitney in either model?

If not I'd like suggestions for a light hiking shoe.

Thanks in advance.

Here are the links at Zappos:
NF Ultra Fastpack II

NF Hedgehog Fastpack

NF Hedgehog Fastpack Mid GTX

If you're day hiking, I would go with the low version shoes. Most important is a good fit. I couldn't use any of those because I need a super wide (4E) size.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I didn't mention I'm going for a day hike.

Here are the two I'm considering

This is what I and several of my friends use. Purchased at REI. I dayhiked Mt Whitney in these. I find them very comfortable although I have read some not so good reviews.

whatever you try, do not hike Whitney in something you do not have enough experience with to know its right for you.

Wherever you go, there you are.
