It was sort of hard to make out what was going on when it was close-up. Can you describe it?

Several years ago hikers reported an aggressive male grouse up the North Fork. A week or so later, other hikers found it dead. ...I'm guessing someone whacked it hard.

I remember BobR having multiple encounters with a crazy grouse on the MMWT that he reported was no longer amongst the living after his last encounter.

Well Laura.. looks like you got in a few good solid whacks there... brave brave bird... lol

Maybe the grouse was upset with all homo sapiens for leaving their trash, especially WAG Bags, in the wilderness.

Description:

Me: falling all over myself, shoving and trying to pin/throw the bird back in attempt to convince it I could do more damage if I needed to. I tripped twice over the trail (off the sandy edge once, then on the bigger rocks at the switcher). I dropped my poles on the second fall, and the damn bird got between me and one of the poles before I could grab it. We had a short stand off, during which time I shoved it off with the one pole.

Bird: Friggin' Terminator.
