Hi All -
Just secured a daytrip pass for Friday, July 21st. Anyone else be there that day? I've been to Whitney Portal numerous times...this will be my first attempt at hiking the 22 miles round trip to the summit.
What can I expect? Is the main trail well traveled? (as in, are lots of hikers out and about on that trail?) Are there bits of the trail where snow / ice still exist? Any particularly hairy spots? Any issues with bears? How much food (calorie wise) do you pack with you?Any other particular nuggets of wisdom?
