Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Looking for partner for Mt. Whitney trail : 9/10-9/11

Hello,

I have two overnight permits but my friend will not be able to join me. This will be my first Whitney hike. ( I have done half dome, and Grand Canyon south rim to river. Mt. Shasta - climbed up to 13000 ft and returned back due to weather).

If any of you planning to hike during these days and don't mind me joining you, please let me know.

My current Plan:
1. Arrive Whitney portal on Friday 9/8 and camp in portal campground. (reservation done)
2. Camp at either outpost (1st preference) or trail camp (2nd preference ) on 9/9.
3. Do the main hike on 9/10 and return back to portal.

Thanks a bunch Steve for the encouragement. Yosemite, Grand Canyon and Zion hikes have lot of hikers and I didn’t feel that I was doing solo. Given the length of the Whitney trial and the limited permits per day, I was not sure what to expect in terms of traffic in trail.
Gladly I am doing this on weekend and that will have more traffic than weekday hikes. Hope to make new friends on the trail and looking forward to the adventure.
