Having been on this trip now - it's a bit odd that I did not come across any mention of the boulders that come crashing into the lake at Consultation Lake.

I had camped there, and noticed that someone had camped on the boulder side of the lake - there was a lot of rumbling at night as a few came rolling down - that person was no longer there the morning afterwards! I figure they got up in the middle of the night and relocated.

In a way - I found Consultation Lake to be well worth the hike on it's own. Never made it to the peak... frown

Smart camper to relocate...bet they will never do that again!

The lake is a beautiful place...serene...

We are so focused in "summit fever" that we forget about the beauty of the Sierra Nevada that surrounds us.

Journey well...
