On Sept 10, before we were clobbered by storms, we took this photo of trail workers above Guitar Lake on the way to our higher camp. I thought maybe they were only there because of this years big snows and runoffs, but no, crews do it every year. These guys were camped below Crabtree Meadow, strutted all that way at 5 mph up the trail carrying their shovels, and started digging. They did not rest while answering my few questions, but kept on shoveling while responding. One was 26 yrs old, his first time, and said he absolutely loved the job.

Note absence of work gloves. I would have blisters and a backache, if not dead already from the run up.
