Anyone have any experience with the Amazon (their brand) down jacket for $35? Too good to be true?

The Amazon Essentials jacket looks very similar to the Costco $30 (or was it $20?) jacket. I bought one at Costco a few years ago, thinking it's ok as a backup or just light jacket around the house. They are cut rather large, so fit is nothing like the athletic cut of the pricey competition. Material is pretty robust (heavy), and the insulation is pretty thin.

Still does the job. I keep one in my office for quick walks out in the cold, but for anything serious, I prefer a lighter more packable jacket with a hood. Yes, even on sale, those cost 3 to 4x as much as these.

If all you want is a warm layer under a shell, it'll work fine

I don't know the Amazon down jacket but I do have this:

https://www.decathlon.com/collections/mens-down-jackets/products/mens-trek-100-hooded-jacket?

I had doubts when I was told of this and the unknown brand, but I am impressed on how warm it gets for something so light and small when packed, and comes with a hood which I feel is a must if I only pack one insulating layer.
Truly the warmest down I have including a North Face that is suppose to have twice the loft and is a lot heavier.

It costs $45

Trying to figure out why they are calling this a down jacket. It does not appear to have any down in it...

Simples: An insulated jacket is way too hot to wear climbing up a mountain, you only need it go down...

Yuk yuk! So anyway, I used that Amazon jacket up on Whitney last summer, and elsewhere, and it's pretty warm. That and one other thin layer were good.
