Had to turn w/ 0.5 mi left to the hut due to altitude sickness.

Overall, it wasn't too bad until we got to the part where the snow started melting and became slushy (too slushy). We left the parking lot at 0200 and got back to the car at 1930.

We brought a can of oxygen, crampons, and an ice ax...Good luck to those attempting.

Respect to you for not pushing on when the right decision is to turn around. Everyone down safe is what constitutes a successful trip. It looks like you all had fun. Congrats.

Did you take the mountaineer's route via the chute or are the switchbacks open yet?

The Mountaineers’ Route is accessed from the north fork of Lone Pine Creek. It is nowhere near the main trail, the switchbacks, or the relatively easy “chute” (actually just a slope) to the right of the switchbacks.

The Chute (it's not Mountaineering Route, however). The switchbacks weren't accessible.
