Hello all. I am solo hiking Whitney 7/19/19 and reaching out to see if anyone that has permits that day would be open to me joining their group. I'm 35 yrs old, fairly experienced hiker (long day summits) and in fairly good shape. Just never really done any long hikes alone, and the possibility of hiking with another group would make me (and my family) a bit more comfortable. Staying at Whitney Portal the night before (7/18/19).

Thanks in advance and happy hiking everyone!

You won't feel alone even if you go "solo" in mid July - there will be 150+ other hikers scattered throughout the trail. Going with other people of unknown experience and attitude can actually be very frustrating. Not saying that you should completely abandon this plan, but be aware of potential repercussions. If your partners are too slow and you stay with them, you may not reach the top. If they are too fast, you may get in trouble with AMS while trying to keep up (a typical problem). That said, you can easily "team up" with other folks on the way up and down with no strings attached.
