Hi! Assuming there will be a lot of snow and probably ascending the chute for my first time. Should I buy crampons or just rent them? Have poles and ice axe and summitted last year same time but very little snow. Going with other experienced chute hikers.

You'll be able to use the switchbacks. microspikes or crampons would be helpful. I descended the switchers yesterday comfortably with hiking poles with snow baskets, and crampons.

I am going up main trail on June 27. There is a lot of conflicting info on various sites about trail conditions. I was hoping to avoid the Shute and use the switchbacks. Does that seem feasible on that date? I will here poles, ice axe and crampons.
