Hi Looking to Buy from some 2 ppl from July 3-7 is its possible we want to o MR side to Whitney or Russell

I have gone Up this route before and experienced

Permits aren't transferable, so your only hope is to be first in line at 11 AM (I think), the day before. Overnight North Fork quota is 10 per day, 4 held back for walk-ins (you).

I believe no-shows are available at 10 AM the day of entry. There is always that possibility.

So, if you are there in person, and get there at the right time, you can get a permit. Please call the Wilderness Permit number 760-873-2483, and verify all of this info. If I'm incorrect, could you please let me know?

Remember that there are no walk ins any more. You have to try checking the recreation.gov site for any unused permits or for the permits that are released the day before.

If he's looking to do a day trip, then the Whitney Zone Day Use permit is what he needs. But the other overnight permits outside of the Main Mt Whitney Trail are still the old walk-in system. Of the 6 per day pre-reserved, if those are cancelled online, they might show up. But not sure.
