Ah Yes. The last two times I hiked up Half Dome our groups made the mistake of going on some of those weekends. It was gridlock on the cables. Of course, things are different this year.
I hit Yosemite last year on this same free weekend. The east entrance gate was crawling with Friends of Yosemite collecting donations. I'm sure it was just a pure coincidence . . .
