I'm not sure if people have noticed, or can even see it, but I set up the favicon (Favorite Icon) that displays in the browser URL line today. It is actually taken from the 6:47 AM web cam picture this morning. Here's Joel Baldwin's archive: http://cams.outel.org/cgi-bin/dir.cgi?cam=whitneyI cropped the peak in the picture, then squeezed it horizontally to 50% width, making the peak sharper (that is how it looks, though, from Iceberg Lake.) So I hope you enjoy the connection. Here's the old icon image: And here's the new image: If you are still seeing the old picture on your browser's url line, you need to tell the browser to "clear the cache". If you need help, I'll post how.

Do we have any images that we want to use in the Message Posting Tips examples?

I posted this over in the shout box: http://www.whitneyportalstore.com/webcam/whitney_s001.jpg We will accumulate some on this site, but that is down the road. I see the Message Posting Tips is up. Thank you!! I'll fix the Feature Topics link to it soon.

Actually, Rod, you are talking about your "avatar". See the Wikipedia meaning. You can set up your avatar in your profile: My stuff, Edit Profile Then scroll to the bottom to see the options. You will need a small picture -- the instructions say 80 x 80 pixels. Mine is bigger, but the forum software scales it down when it is displayed. Mine is a picture I set up for this purpose over in Smugmug.

On a related topic, what determines whether a yellow smiley face or a gray sleepy/bored face is displayed right next to one's user name (CaT, in my case) any time one posts something in any of the forums? I've noticed tnat mine has alternated between the smiley yellow face and the sleepy/bored gray face from time to time, without my doing a thing.

Rod, your son has done a great job with the Hopsports site. You should be proud. Now to convince him that you need a little help with an avatar. CaT, I noticed that too -- I was on-line, but saw the sleepy-head next to my name sometimes, too. It is probably due to lag times between your doing something on the board, and how often users' activity is logged in the database. It's gotta be a tough job making a web site look like a real-time system when actually each time you click somewhere on the site, it is a completely unique transaction. If you note the Who's Online box, and then click the Who's Online link, you will get a different result.
