Just for fun, the WhitneyZone westsiders got together last week for dinner.

Left-to-Right: Pam, Gary (+@ti2d), Cynthia, David (CaT), Steve C, Wagga

The main accomplishment of the evening was Gary's showing us some Positive Attitude toward a Yeti Burger:

We were honored with a visit by CaT (California Trailwalker) and his wife from Columbus, OH. This is the first time I had actually met him face-to-face after corresponding and working together for over 3 years. It was CaT's camera chip that I found at the foot of Half Dome after he lost his camera starting down the cables.

2007 pictures (below):
The chip, and David's picture from the chip.
WPSMB thread is here.

Main accomplishment? Hah! 2d stuffed? Heck yeah...Cholesterol probably shot up over 300.

But, man was it good. Eating a Yeti in under 5 minutes for a T-shirt not worth it. The burger was delicious. Man vs. Food. Food won.

Note: Someone ate the entire thing in 1 minute and 40 seconds!

It was a great time meeting CaT and Cynthia. I thought they were from Blacklick, OH. Is that like Frenchlick, IN?

OH is IN, so is IN OH?

Next time? I am going to be civilized...

Yeah right...

Have fun.

Gary, wow, I can't tell you how disappointed I was to see you DIDN'T have some gray hair.

Looks like you'll have to be the lead when we all get together to dance on Whitney.

What a great gathering.Guess Jana and I are going to have to make a drive to Fresno for a Yeti burger at the next Westside meeting.
Steve C finding the CaT's camera chip is still an amazing and almost miraculous story. I mean what are the chances of finding the needle in the haystack?

Looks like Steve wimped out with a salad and wagga had Fish and Chips? Looking for home cooking wagga?

The fish & chips is all you can eat, except that you only get the initial serving of chips. As much fish as you want. Strange?

Not so much like Oz, though...

Wimped out? Ha, no way!

That's their one of their specialties: A personal Gilroy Special pizza: Chicken and artichoke hearts, with lots of garlic. Yummmm!

There IS a plate underneath, it just doesn't show up.

I'll have to come up some time and tackle the Yeti burger with you all! Fresno is only about an hour and a half drive for me.

November 25, a Thursday, I think. Just a starting point. By then Tioga should be closed & the ESBs won't be able to come.

Caveat: November 25, 2010 is Thanksgiving. Don't think SBC will be open that day!

Proposal #1: I propose November 10 (hot) or November 11 (warm). Both dates very near and dear to me heart. Marine Corps Birthday on November 10, and Veterans' Day on November 11.

Tried to argue with the boss to have 11-11 off since I am the ONLY veteran in the entire office and it is the last "binary" date of the year! Got the personal and vacation days to spare, but don't want to use.

Got plenty of sick time! Hmmmmm...

"Boss, too hungover to come to work on 11-11. I am a 'recovering' alcoholic recovering from the night before."

Boss response: Hungover? Yeah, I read your post on this forum! Fired! Now, you can have the rest of the month off as well as the rest of the year!

On second thought...

Have fun...burp...there all better!

I can do that. Actually, given that I have no dependents other than the cats, and that SBC is my pub, anytime is good.

I want to come.
I am suspicious that Positive Attitudes pictures before and after the Yeti were doctored. That thing is HUGE and Gary does not look in enough pain to have polished that bad boy off.

We have a theory that he asked Pam if he could have another and that she said NO!. All in whispers, of course.

Pictures were not doctored. In fact, the first time we got together, I got +@ti2d to split one with me. Now I realize that he only agreed reluctantly. He wanted it ALL for himself!!! grin

Ah....

Gluttony...Greed...Vanity...Pride...Four out of seven...Not bad for one sitting!

One more thing, notice that the photos are from the waist up...

One word: Distended.

Note: I mistakenly packed and ate my wife's lunch that day so I had plenty of room to spare by nightfall.

So, a Moose and a Yeti...Does that count as "two" summits?

Too bad there ain't a Fuddruckers out here...Man, I shouldn't have said that!

I recall hearing of a place in Frisco where you cook your burger to order...a one-pounder (pre-cooked weight, of course.) YUMMAY!

On several occasions, I have consumed a Kitchen Sink Omelet and an extra side of taters at Claim Jumper. And on at least two occasions, consumed the beef rib dinner at CJ and left the place walking on my own two feet!

Alas, I have failed at least three times to consume the infamous Portal Pancake! Honestly, it ain't gonna happen in my lifetime.

Have fun!

Thanks Steve for posting these pics!
Cynthia and I had a wonderful evening!
It was great to finally(!) meet you after 3-4 years of MB communication and the whole chip/camera episode.
As I mentioned at dinner (the food was fabulous, by the way!), I did finally lose that chip at home a few months ago after a routine hike in Ohio. I still have hopes that it will turn up some day; but I did use that same chip you found all this time up until I recently lost it.

wagga and +ati2d, meeting the two of you (and Pam) was an unexpected surprise and pleasure. Putting faces to names is always nice, and esp on this MB.

Hopefully, I will make it out there again sooner than another 3 years, and this time, to do some actual hiking!!
