Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Diamox

Hi Gang! I'm new on this board, having been on the WPS board for several years. I climbed Whitney a few years ago, and have climbed several 14ers in Colorado, all without Diamox.

I am leaving for Tanzania to climb Kilimanjaro on Monday. I plan to use Diamox, because of the extreme altitude. I plan to take 125 mg twice per day, starting a day or two before starting the hike. I have taken a few pills to see how my body would react, with only the "usual" minor side effects. What dosage has worked for you? Any advice is appreciated.

Also, when should I stop taking Diamox? In case it is relevant, I will be on the Machame 7 day route. Any input or comments are welcome and appreciated!

I have taken 125 mg twice a day starting 24 hours before starting up, and I don't seem to get any side effects with that dose. And I'll take the last dose the morning of summit day.
