There is a major log wedged on the Ebersbacher Ledges. Here's a picture:

Forest rangers have cut it down, but they say now the main section is wedged even more tightly into position.

If anyone goes up that way, or has a better/more current picture of it, please post it.

Thanks!

Great pictures Walter. I've been wanting to do the Mountaineer's Route but not quite comfortable with the route finding in the Spring. I've been watching Steve's videos of the route a few times. Looks like you did that hike really fast. Started in the daytime and ended with plenty of daylight. Can you let me know how long it took you? I was planning on starting at 2 AM when I finally decide to go to give myself plenty of time. Thanks.

2600: Those videos have the clock time associated with each one. We moved briskly up to Iceberg Lake, then loafed since we were spending the night on top. I was carrying a 15 lb overnight pack, too. I wouldn't start until you see without a head lamp, at least by the point where you leave the trail at the North Fork. That should give you plenty of time.

Have you checked all the links in the Mountaineers Route info links within thread? You can find it in the first paragraph of the Orientation Notes.

Seems like the log might make it easier to get up now.

Based upon photos, it looks like the log is wedged overhead.

Steve,
Yes, I saw the MR links. I've been reading everything I can and watching all the videos. I'm a slow hiker, and I wanted to start at 2 AM because I figured you guys are healthier, and since you already knew the route, I needed to add several hours to the trip. I was also planning on heading down the MT.

Thanks for all the information you've compiled for us.

Are we looking at the same pictures? Appears to be down in the base of the crack created by the cliff and that big rock. Looks like you just walk up it with hands on cliff/rock beside you.
