I'll probably be trying on the 6th. (Expected to be there right now, but had an unfortunate accident requiring stitches on my big toe last week, so the 6th is probably the earliest safe date for me.)
If you're at all flexible, you might want to go sooner. Right now, there shouldn't be too much ice and snow on the mountain, because there only was one major snowstorm so far in early October and most of that snow should be gone by now. The forecast through the 6th is clear, beyond that, there's no guarantee that you won't get hit by a new snowstorm.
