Mt Whitney Zone Forums General Discussion Looking for a day pass June 18 or overnight June 17-18.

I won the lottery for June 18th day hike but didn't get an extra permit for my friend who couldn't make it. Well, he had a change of plans and can now go, so I'm hoping to snag an extra permit.

If somebody has an extra one, please let me know!

Also, do you think it's worth the risk trying to get a walk-in permit for June 18th (Saturday)? We're driving about 7 hours and will get there around 3pm on June 17th.

Jon, looking at last year's unused permits, there were over 50 unused on Saturdays in June. I think your chances of getting the walk-in are pretty good.

Those walk-in permits are free. But if you want to get a reserved one, keep checking this link, and one might show up. Watch especially in the week or more before your hike. If it does, then jump over to your existing reservation, and modify it by increasing your group size.
