Heading up MR this weekend. Any views on which would be the faster descent in current conditions - MR or trail? Thanks.

Hi, Ben. The MR should be the fastest way back down. I've even done the MR up Whitney, made a quick detour down to Muir and back, and then descended the MR. Have fun!

Thanks Bob.

I'm still targeting Williamson for end of August if you're interested! =)

Would it be faster to descend the final 400, or do the longer class 2 scramble traverse?

I would take the final 400 back down.

Any info on MR conditions? Would I need crampons and an ice axe? I'm fairly confident on snow and would rather ditch the extra weight thanks
