The National Weather Service in Hanford CA has issued a

* Flood Advisory for areas immediately along the Kings River in the San Joaquin Valley... this includes Fresno... Kings... and Tulare counties in central California...

* river levels are likely to remain high through next week due to rapid snowmelt in the Sierra Nevada.

* Law enforcement officials have reported high flows along the Kings River. Access on the entire stretch of the river below Pine Flat dam has been closed due to unsafe conditions.

* Flooding along normally dry banks of the Kings River will be possible for the next several days due to large releases from Pine Flat Lake.

A Flood Advisory means river and stream flows are elevated and minor flooding is occurring or is likely.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.

I was in Kings Canyon all last week, and when I came out on Sat, the river was even higher than when we went in, and it was awesome.

Some with the group who had been coming in for 50 years said they'd NEVER seen the river so high and angry.
